Pegelnya Kakikuuu
Aaaaaargh I have sore legsss. Yesterday I had to walk hundred miles (not hundreds but I think it was close, I’m just being hyperbolic hehehe) to do this pre-test with my MPS class. We’re working on a research about how big parents’s effort is in supporting their children’s education. And next week we’re gonna go to Sukabumi to do the survey and spread the quetionnaire… but before we do the real survey, we must do this sample survey in Jakarta and we call it a pre-test.
So we went to this small village near our campus and did the pre-test there. Each of us had to find one respondent (spelling?). And I did it with 2 of my other friends, Fina and Norma…
We just knocked on random doors and asked the moms if they wanted to help us filling in the qs. Fina was lucky cus her respondent was smart, and by coincidence her husband was the chairman of a comittee in an elementary at that village so… she didn’t find much troubles when she worked on that qs.
My respondent was a very pretty mom of one daughter. She said she was 23 and I was like “Hey me too!”. Hehehe. She seemed very shy, and she was nervous to fill the qs herself so I had to read and explained the questions for her. She was smart tho cus she answered my qs very fast, and she was even being critical about some stuffs.
We were concerned about Norma’s respondent. She told us that her family didn’t have money to earn their children’s education so none of their kids went to school (they had 4 kids). She didn’t have a job either. She couldn’t write or read, so Norma had to read and explain the questions like I did. The difference with my respondent was, she had some hard time understanding a lot of words…. Like “Tata Usaha” …
(sorry I think only Indo can understand the following paragraph)…
Norma : Trus sejauh ini tata usaha di sekolah udah berfungsi dengan baik belum Bu?
Si Ibu : Aduuuh… saya nggak punya usaha. Suami saya supir taxi xxxx (nama taxinya aku gak familiar, jd lupa). Penghasilannya juga pas2an jadi gak cukup buat biaya sekola anak2.
“I’m unemployed. My husband is a taxi driver but he doesn’t make enough money to afford the kids to go to school.”
We didn’t know if we had to be sad or… but we couldn’t hide our smile. Ada yang tau gimana sih caranya bisa punya adek asuh gitu? Perlu daftar ke lembaga khusus atau gimana… kalo kita udah punya pilihan sendiri adek yg mo dibantu?. I was surprised when I heard that school fee per month was only Rp 10,000 (about $1) in that village. I mean it’s very affordable for us if we wanna help out, right? But do we need to follow some procedure or something? Kalo ada nyang tau, plis kasi tau dunks.
Most of the kids in my sunday school come from somewhat you call wealthy families, so the experience that day kinda opened my eyes for something new.

I have done lots of research since i work on communications and with marketing and is interesting knowing the differences between ppl. It’s sad hearing that parents can’t give their children’s what they need but like u said, maybe is a good idea if @ the sunday school u make a monthly activity to obtain money and send it to the family or u can be in charge of sending it to the school. I really like community service, is also a great idea to teach the sunday school kids how to help others, maybe u can show the idea to the parents at the sunday school and the others teachers
I LOVE THE IDEA!!

Selain idenya Zahira, mending kmu ama temen2 bikin semacam organisasi kecil2an dibawah jurusan kmu buat projek kemanusian “Everybody Goes To School” ato apalah namanya. Mungkin bisa dgn 10rb/bln yg mungkin nothing buat biaya uni jaman skarang. Drpd repot2 tjari lembaga lain yg belum tentu ntu duit nyampe. Gw masi alergi denger2 yg namanya LSM! Sowreee… nothing personal here. Kekekekeke…

Shei, papa aku sejak aku kecil walau aku hidupnya pas-pasan, udah pelihara beberapa anak asuh. Papa hanya kasih uang aja (ga banyak), tiap bulan buat biaya sekolah dia. Tau ga apa yg terjadi sekarang?

setuju sama Tina…
bantunya directly ke keluarga yg bersangkutan. kalo melalui lembaga sosial, progressnya kita gak aware and i dunno why but, aku gak pernah percaya total sama lembaga charity disini…
